Symptoms
- Excess abdominal skin folds after pregnancy or weight loss
- As part of a hernia correcting procedure
- Recurrent irritation or infection beneath the skin fold
- Poor appearance after trauma or surgical scarring
- Difficulty placing stoma bags
Surgery
- Maybe just liposuction alone if minor excess
- Mini-abdominoplasty
- Full abdominoplasty
- Full abdominoplasty and repair of hernia
After Care
- An overnight stay after surgery
- Leave Dressings on until you are seen in clinic
- No showering for 48 hours
- When starting to shower dry tapes afterwards with a hair dryer
- Wear the provided compression garment day and night for 3 weeks to help remould your abdomen
- No strenuous exercise for 12 weeks if you have had a hernia repair
- No smoking to reduce wound healing problems
- You may drive if you feel well enough to do an emergency stop
- Scar care 3 weeks after surgery
