Otoplasty/Pinning Back Ears
Symptoms
- Unilateral or Bilateral Prominent Ears
- Poorly formed folds in the ears
- Bullying due to appearance of ears
Surgery
- None if the child is not bothered by the appearance themselves
- Once the child is over 5 years of age surgery under general anaesthetic
After Care
- An overnight stay in hospital
- A head dressing day and night for 2 weeks followed by removal of stitches
- No washing hair until the removal of sutures
- Wear the head dressing for another 2 weeks in bed only
- No contact sport for 8 – 12 weeks
